GFFF-V – Land firefighting of forest using vehicles

Brief description of the project: The project addresses the construction of technical and institutional support for a specialised rescue module Land fire fighting using vehicles (hereinafter GFFF-V). By its nature, it contributes to increasing the efficiency of the management of emergencies affected by climate change, thereby fulfilling the main specific objective for the challenge. The construction of the GFFF-V module is conceived in accordance with the Commission Implementing Decision of 16 October 2014 laying down rules for the implementation of Decision No 1313/2013/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council on a Union Civil Protection Mechanism and repealing Commission Decisions 2004/277/EC, Euratom and 2007/606/EC, Euratom, Euratom (hereinafter ‘Commission Implementing Decision 2014/762/EU’). Its role lies mainly in the ability to provide the Slovak Republic (hereinafter the Slovak Republic) with the capacities that will enable it to provide assistance to any EU Member State in the event of a crisis situation in order to combat large-scale ground fires. The primary task of the GFFF-V module is to provide assistance in extinguishing large-scale forest and plant fires using vehicles or ground resources, with sufficient human resources and vehicles for continuous operations, with at least 20 firefighters at all times, ensuring its ability to operate continuously for 24 hours. /7 days. The activities of the project are building technical and institutional support module, building a hall for storing the module technical support, positioning and training of the intervention team, education, preparation of the operating manual, simulation exercise, registration and certification of the module into the CECIS system and evaluation of the project. Measurable indicators of the project sú:vybudovanie 1 specialised rescue module serving the needs of forest fires and forest plant fires, procurement of 25 pieces of specialised automotive technology to ensure the operation of the module to eliminate climate change risks.
