The project deals with building modifications of roads II/550 and II/548 (total length of reconstructed road 12,507 km). Roads II/550 and II/548 form an important connection of the municipalities to the regional town of Košice with connection to the road I/16 as well as to US Steel Košice and the industrial park in Moldava nad Bodvou and the town of Rožňava. The roads are gradually refurbished and the Košice Self-Governing Region (hereinafter referred to as “KSK”) has systematically invested since 2005 in improving the parameters of these second-class roads, using its own budget, credit resources from the European Investment Bank, PPP projects and also EU resources. In the project, which is highly additive and synergistic to the above activities, the stabilisation or reinforcement of the sideways, reinforcement of the road cover, adjustment of drainage, reconstruction of passes, complete modernisation of traffic signs and addition of transport equipment, installation of security elements – guardrails, as well as the application of modern information systems – meteostations are proposed. At the same time, the entire length of the road will be equipped with so-called kilometres, which are completely absent and necessary in terms of spatial orientation when driving on the road, as well as improving the recording of winter and summer maintenance performance. The project deals with the modification of exposed stops in the villages Hatiny, Jasov, Rudník, Malá Ida with the application of protection elements for pedestrians. At that time the stops are contrary to the relevant standards and collision situations occur.The project also includes reconstruction of bridge buildings. These are bridge buildings with ev. number 548-004 in the village Malá Ida, ev.no.548-005 in the village of Šemša and in the village Rudník on the road II/548.
