The main objective of the present project is the completion and restoration of the dedicated monitoring network of the Water Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as VÚH) for monitoring pollution in groundwater. Groundwater monitoring is in line with the approved Slovak Water Monitoring Framework Programme 2016-2021 and the requirements of water planning for compliance with international regulations. Groundwater sampling forms one of the main activities of the project Monitoring and assessment of water status stage III, both projects are linked in content and results. The applicant will ensure the design and situation of new monitoring hydrogeological wells in the cadastres of municipalities located in a vulnerable area (according to Government Regulation 617/2004 establishing sensitive and vulnerable areas), partly and beyond. The design of hydrogeological wells will include spatial analysis using GIS tools, use of conceptual models and field recognosation. In addition, the applicant shall ensure supervision and control of drilling operations, take-over and control of the wells installed, including control sampling of groundwater. The actual construction of monitoring hydrogeological wells, including permits required for well building and monitoring, will be outsourced.The project will involve the purchase and updating of software within GIS tools and links with field hardware, hardware restoration in connection with automation of the design of monitoring wells and subsequent groundwater sampling. Renewal of the fleet in connection with field recognosing in the design of wells, inspection of drilling works, acceptance of wells and sampling.  The project will be carried out by competent, trained and trained internal staff of VÚVH.
