By liberalising the market of agricultural production by entering the EU and gradually focusing Slovakia on industrial production, the response of the Joint School Ivanka pri Dunaji to create new, progressive orientations in agriculture was also necessary. Focusing on higher value-added disciplines such as horse breeding and horse riding, agribusiness – farming, bioenergy, veterinary health and hygiene and kynology have once again increased pupils’ interest in studying in agriculture. This specialisation naturally entails high investment costs for modernising and bringing the practical training environment closer to business conditions. Due to its high investment intensity, the connected school Ivanka pri Dunaji was not able to develop and innovate in technical and technological procedures in the above fields, resulting in insufficient preparation of pupils in practical teaching with an impact on the labour market. The aim of the project “Reconstruction and investment support of COVP Ivanka pri Dunaji” (hereinafter referred to as “the project”) is to increase the number of pupils of secondary vocational schools in practical teaching under Priority Axis No.2: Easier access to more efficient and better quality public services. Implementation of the main activity 1: Reconstruction and modernisation of the interior premises of the workplace Zálesie, main activity No. 2: Reconstruction and modernisation of professional teaching objects of the workplace Zálesie, main activity no. 3: Modernisation of material and technical equipment of professional teaching facilities of the workplace Zálesie and main activity no. 4: After the end of the project, the improvement of the energy efficiency of the professional teaching facilities of the Zálesie site will be supported by the Ivanka Pri Dunaji Centre of Vocational Education and Training (hereinafter referred to as “COVP”) in the field of agriculture 6980.64 m² of floor area of refurbished public buildings, renovated 8 public buildings, 1 vocational education and training centre will be supported, thereby supporting the school infrastructure for 506 secondary vocational school pupils attending the fields covered by the project. The target group, which will benefit from the implementation of the project, are pupils, participants in further education and educators. Given the demographic evolution of the population, the increase in the attractiveness of vocational training through the project and the positive developments in the labour market, we expect the result to be increased by 10 % by 2025 in the number of pupils undergoing vocational training in the supported infrastructure. With its solution, the project approximates the conditions under which vocational education and training, further education and the development of educators are carried out to conditions similar to those in the business environment, and it will create improvements in spatial, material and technical equipment and conditions for vocational education and training, which will enable more COVP pupils to undertake experience in an environment comparable to the private sector, with the possibility of subsequent involvement of pupils in teaching directly with the employer. The focus has also been on providing lifelong learning within the meaning of Act No. 568/2009 on Lifelong Learning and on Amendments and Supplements to certain Acts since the beginning of the project preparation, which is adapted to building objects in terms of disposition. Through building modifications, reconstructing the outdoor and indoor areas of the COVP area, we exclusively modernise the professional workplaces of the Zálesie school, thus contributing to improving the quality of the conditions for education and practical training, increasing the safety of pupils, promoting inclusion by debarierising the premises and, last but not least, increasing energy efficiency.
