The railway company Slovensko, a.s., through the implementation of the project “Increasing the attractiveness of non-motorised transport through bike-sharing in the Košice region”, plans to build a functional network of automatic urban bicycle rental in the city of Košice, which will serve primarily for the inhabitants of the city and, last but not least, for all residents of the region who travel to the county city for various purposes (work, visit to a doctor, offices, cultural and sports activities, etc.). The successful implementation of the project will be located in the county city with 15 bikes together with 210 bicycles, which will be available during 8-9 months of operation per year, depending on the climatic conditions. Project: Increasing the attractiveness of non-motorised transport through bike-sharing in the Košice region reflects the specific objective No. 1.2.2, which will increase the attractiveness and transport capacity of non-motorised transport (especially cycling) to the total number of passengers transported. The main objective is to increase the attractiveness of non-motorised transport through the development of a network of automatic urban bicycle rentals in a given city, resulting in an increase in the use of cycling, which will relieve city centres from increasing caring rates and create a positive environmental effect in terms of reducing air pollution, noise and vibration in the city.
