The protection of the city of Košice against flood flows of the Hornád river is part of the priority flooding measures in the Slovak Republic and is also located in Resolution No 581/2013 of the Government of the Slovak Republic – task B6. The submitted project addresses the adjustment of the flow and the right bank of the Hornád so that in the section rkm 140.575-142,517 flow flow Q100 = 757 m³. s-1 is safely transferred, thereby increasing flood protection of the adjacent urban areas and allowing further territorial and economic development. The project will protect 2063 people at immediate risk from flooding and prevent flood damage worth more than EUR 19,864 million.
