The aim of the project is to implement activities aimed at involving the general public in active nature and biodiversity conservation within micro-regions, increasing environmental awareness and finding solutions in a proactive way. The main target group of the project is the general public, to whom we want to provide relevant information on environmental issues, the risk factors of individual components, but also the possibilities of nature and landscape protection, green infrastructure, enhancement of biodiversity and overall improvement of the quality of the environment in individual regions of Slovakia. The model areas where the project will be implemented will be eight selected microregions of Slovakia (one microregion in each self-governing region). Each micro-region represents a grouping of several municipalities, with project activities targeting both developed and less developed regions. The main activity of the project is to improve the awareness and involvement of key sectors and the public in the field of nature and landscape protection. This activity will be implemented through 4 information sub-activities that are interconnected and logically linked to each other in time and content. The project will carry out 1st workshops focusing on the importance and protection of biodiversity in relation to nature protection and green infrastructure in individual micro-regions, (2) lectured excursions focused on understanding the biodiversity of micro-regions, (3) practical management aimed at improving the condition of plants, animals and habitats, and (4) creative workshops through which the public will be able to perceive biodiversity from a different perspective. The various activities will be directed to increase public interest in environmental issues by raising public awareness and contributing to citizens’ participation in solving problems related to nature and landscape protection and the preservation and enhancement of biodiversity not only during the duration of the project but also after its completion.
