The aim of the project is to increase the share of transport work sharing in favour of more environmentally friendly modes of transport – cycling on urban mobility in the city of Trenčín, in its urban parts and adjacent municipalities in the city functional area Trenčín by continuing to build a compact network of cycling infrastructure – cycling roads with the necessary measures aimed at calming traffic and improving the safety of vulnerable road users. The target area of implementation of the project is the county town Trenčín, the City of Zámostie with urban districts Zámostie, the industrial district of West I, the industrial district of West II, New Zlatovce and Kvetna, na ul. Zlatovská, Kožušnícka, Cotton and Hlavná, which in terms of the genera of cycling traffic of Trenčín form branch C radial cycling route with priority transport function and transport link with branch E. Project outputs in the form of 2,3150 km of newly built non-motorised roads intended for cycling traffic – one-way cycle path and one-way cycling lanes on the street. Zlatovská and segregated two-way cycling trail, a common path for cyclists and pedestrians and a corridor for cyclists on the connection of Zlatovská – Hlavná streets, built 1 element of calming of traffic in the form of a preference for cycling and pedestrian traffic at the expense of individual transport (barrier stop lane, barrier-free and illuminated pedestrian crossings with a guide line for visually impaired, complete horizontal and vertical traffic signs, in dangerous places in the cycle showers shaded) and the created element of additional cycling infrastructure in the form of two-way cycling infrastructure in the form of a cross-sided position on the bicycles of Trenčín, allowing better urban mobility of the city’s inhabitants. The project is fully in line with the IROP intervention strategy, and by implementing the project we will contribute to the achievement of strategic urban, regional, national and European objectives for the use of environmentally friendly transport systems for sustainable urban mobility. The project will have a positive impact on the quality of the environment by reducing air pollution, noise and vibration as if the horizontal principle Non-discrimination in the form of debarierisation of public spaces, thereby contributing to improving the living conditions of the population. We will achieve a positive impact through measures aimed at favouring cycling and walking at the expense of individual transport. The implementation of the project will motivate people to move within the city to use a bicycle for work/public services.
