Support for dein tituionalisation of facilities and social services in the district of Pezinok – DSS and ZPB Merema

The initiative to submit the project “Support for the deinstitutionalisation of social services facilities in the district of Pezinok – DSS and ZPB Merema” (Home of social services and facilities of supported housing Merema) was a solution to the unsatisfactory state of provision of social services in this social service facility. One of the identified causes of the problem is the limiting physical environment (i.e. the impossibility of debarierising the current object of the facility in Modra – Harmony) and the associated limited possibilities for providing social services directly and according to the individual needs of the beneficiaries. Another reason is the current location of the facility in the extravalve, which makes it difficult for social service recipients to access amenities, public services and employment opportunities. Difficult access to these important parts of life in the community negatively determines the extent of their opportunities in the field of autonomy, decision-making, development of communication skills, leisure and gaining work experience. The applicant perceives the administrativeity and individual approach to social service recipients as essential factors in their provision. The Bratislava Self-Governing Region is convinced that through the gradual transition from institutional to community-based care in the system of social services in the district of Pezinok, Častá, Dubová, Modra – Kráľová, under priority axis No.2: “Easier access to more efficient and better quality public services” can achieve the objective of the project: a targeted and individual approach to recipients of social services in an inclusive community environment. The submitted project for the complete deinstitutionalisation of the facility is piloted in the applicant’s conditions and will serve as a model for further activities. The deinstitutionalisation of the facility will take place gradually, with the applicant graduating through the purchase of suitable land and two 4-room apartments in Pezinok from his own resources. The project consists of the following main activities:HA 1 – Construction of a new building – a semi-detached building Frequent (12 recipients of social services in the form of a year-round residence per 361 m²);HA 2 – Construction of a new building – Dubová (12 recipients of social service in a year-round residence form per 474 m²);HA 3 – Reconstruction and modernisation of the building Modra – Kráľová (12 recipients of social services in the form of a year-round stay on 1165 m²)HA 4 – Investment in material and technical equipment of DSS and ZPB Merema (system of lifting equipment, set of professional kitchen appliances, 6 sets of kitchen line with built-in appliances);HA 5 – Measures to improve the energy performance of buildings; (the effect of reconstruction of the building in Modra – Kráľová will reclassify the object into energy class “A0”) The applicant further undertakes to ensure a change in the physical environment in an alternative way adequate for the state of health of recipients from its own resources in order to achieve complete deinstitutionalisation. Implementation of the project “DSOs and ZPB Merema” will improve social service in all places of its provision. The project contributes to the transition of social services to community, in which change is particularly tangible in the quality of life of social service recipients. Beneficiaries will be given a greater opportunity to decide on their daily lives and on matters concerning them. The social service will allow them to participate in activities that they can carry out independently, gaining greater scope for self-realisation, which in turn changes attitudes towards themselves and the outside world. Incentives for a new environment and a change of approach have the potential to activate beneficiaries, which is expected to improve their quality of life.
