The general strategic objective of the present proposal for a research project entitled “Scientific Research Centre of Excellence SlovakION for Material and Interdisciplinary Research” is to create a sustainable excellent R & D, innovation and institutional governance environment. The main activity of the applicant will focus on the implementation of R & D tasks in particular in the priority areas of RIS3: “Material research and nanotechnologies” also linked to the field of “Information and Communication Technologies”, which is essential for the successful achievement of project objectives and activities, whether in the framework of:(a) the supporting field of R & D in the above areas, e.g. in the implementation of the Time-of-Flight ERDA measurement systems and their integration into the Tandetron 6MV acceleration system. Nuclear and computing electronics form the necessary background for the successful realisation of physical tasks resulting from measurement.b) interdisciplinary research in order to transfer know-how from other scientific fields, offering sophisticated methods of data processing and analysis and which are not normally widespread in material sciences. Our dominant interest in such an interdisciplinary strategy is the study of the signal as such. Originally designed methods for astrophysics have application in the study of quasi-periodic nano-elements on material surfaces, or do not need equidistant data, which is a limiting condition of Fourier analysis in the case of microscopy, etc. The aim is to adopt specific methods used in other scientific fields such as the analysis of light curves of acretic processes (astrophysics) or the study of the EEG signal from the brain (neuroscience) and thus take a step forward in the analysis of electron or AFM microscopy.
