The present national project (hereinafter referred to as “the NP”) is one of a number of measures contributing to the development of systemic measures for the implementation of the policy of reconciliation of family and working life and their implementation in Slovakia. The focus of the European Commission’s initiative “A new start to address work-life balance problems faced by working families” is aimed at increasing women’s labour market participation under the current EU legal and policy framework and setting it to the current labour market conditions. Better sharing of caring responsibilities between women and men, supporting measures to facilitate the return of women from maternity/parental leave to the labour market, improving employment conditions for women with caring and parental responsibilities will contribute to strengthening gender equality in the labour market. The aim of the project is therefore to prepare a support platform for the implementation of measures in the field of reconciliation of family and working life, including gender audits at employers in the form of conceptual documents with set conditions in professional and methodological terms. The implementation of the project activities will raise general awareness of the benefits and possibilities of expanding measures for the reconciliation of private and professional life. Through awareness-raising, employers will be given more detailed information on the importance of reconciling private and professional life and thus be more motivated to provide their employees with concrete measures for reconciling private and professional life. Employees will also be more aware of what measures to reconcile private and professional life can expect from the employer and will be motivated to require and use these measures. The beneficiary is the Department of Gender Equality and Equal Opportunities (hereinafter referred to as “ORRRP”) of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Slovak Republic as the National Coordinator of the Equal Opportunities Agenda, which has a direct impact on policy-making in this area and is the guarantor of the implementation of strategic documents, in particular the National Gender Equality Strategy and Action Plan 2014-2019.
