Innovation and modernisation of the Málinec water treatment plant

The aim of the project is to ensure the safe supply of drinking water from the public water supply to residents of the southern part of the Banská Bystrica region, in particular the districts of Poltár, Lučenec, Rimavská Sobota and Veľký Krtíš.The subject of the solution is the innovation and modernisation of the existing surface water treatment plant Málinec, which serves to treat raw water from the Málinec water reservoir, in accordance with the Council Directive 98/83/EC on the quality of water intended for human consumption and Act No 335/2007 Coll. on the protection, promotion and development of public health, as amended, and to meet the health requirements of the European Union. The project will be implemented in its entirety only in the existing water treatment plant in Málinec, which is owned by the applicant. The current technological set of water treatment does not provide sufficient guarantees for the treatment and distribution of safe drinking water in accordance with current requirements and European and Slovak legislation. Addressing this shortcoming requires a comprehensive modernisation of the technological process of water treatment. Current technological equipment is no longer sufficient for the treatment of deteriorating hydrobiological quality of water and, in addition, are morally outdated, with high energy intensity. Coagulation is not sufficient, although the formation of flakes is faster, but with insufficient binding of living organisms, which is problematic to capture in the separation part of the water treatment technology. Manganese oxidation is also a problem part of current technology. High recovery is also felt after filtration, which together with coagulation without settling is not sufficient. Problems also occur by maintaining a stable pH value. On the basis of the above, the present project aims to address the necessary solution to the innovation and modernisation of the water treatment plant, which will mainly focus on the following: living organisms and microorganisms separation of iron and manganese, reduction of opacity of toxins and elimination of odour-stabilisation of water and reduction of aggressive effects of transported water The implementation of the project is fully in line with the objective of Council Directive 98/83/EC on the quality of water intended for human consumption and other subsequent legislation. After the implementation of the main activity of the project, an improved supply of drinking water will be ensured for 35 599 inhabitants (measurable indicator P0712) and the number of reconstructed surface water treatment plants will be 1 (MU P0600).
