The project aims to innovate and improve the teaching practice of teachers in the field of pre-school and elementary pedagogy (PEP) and teaching for primary education (UPV) with an emphasis (not only) on the adaptation process of children of pre-school and younger school age. The concept of the project responds to the current social situation about the lack of readiness of graduates for the needs of the labour market in the context of their practical skills and the undersised rate of practical training during their studies. The quality of the graduate is assessed not only according to his theoretical training, but especially in the teaching professions it is necessary to take care of the didactic transfer of theoretical models of education into practical educational interventions. However, the future work of graduates also includes management activities and tasks which are related not only to educational work, but also to other competences of the social and psychological dimension. For this reason, the main objective of the project is mainly to acquire the practical skills of future teachers related to the adaptation process of children in kindergarten and in the first year of primary school. Other objectives of the project include the innovation of a model of current pedagogical practice for university students to reflect the needs of practice (particularly STEM education), to be subject to high-quality mentoring and to be associated with theoretical training of students. The place of implementation of the project is the Bratislava Region. The target group is students of the bachelor’s degree of study of PEP and students of the master’s degree in UPV. The project foresees one main activity entitled “Supporting training schools in teacher training, linking theoretical and practical education with an emphasis on students’ practice in pre-school and elementary pedagogy, including mentoring and networking of information” in which three types of sub-activities will be implemented: (1) student internships (adaptation traineeships and internships focused on non-teaching activities); 2. pedagogical practice of students (innovation and increasing the number of hours of practice in secondary schools and schools, new model of practice in Elementary School with an accent on STEM subjects); 3. creation of supporting educational materials for trainee teachers (methodologies for practice implementation and supporting educational materials).
