The subject of the project is research and development focused on the concept of smart farming and agri-food production with high added value. The project aims at creating a knowledge and innovation base for sustainable and competitive primary agricultural production. The aim is to provide advanced tools for creating tailor-made solutions. The project is based on an effective partnership of 10 partners, active cooperation of research institutions of partners from industry (6), universities (3) and university science parks (2). The project will generate original scientific knowledge, innovative approaches and technological solutions potentially applicable in practice. The 14 research activities of the project (independent R & D, industrial research and experimental development) vertically cover the production agri-food chain from resources to production – soil, plants, animals, food, biomass) to innovative product design, utilisation/processing options to pilot models, functional prototypes to increase the added value of primary production and efficient use of natural biomass resources with the implementation of circular economy and bioeconomy principles. The solution of the project will be to create conditions for strengthening research cooperation (public and private partners, strengthening research excellence (planned more than 100 scientific publications, 14 original intellectual property results), engaging (4) top foreign experts in research. Project implementation is allocated proportionally in regions of Slovakia, some activities will be implemented directly in less developed regions. Keywords: land, crop production, livestock production, food, intelligent farming, production systems, recovery of primary raw materials and biomass, greening of the agro-sector, ecosystem services, climate change, food technologies, economic modelling.
