Modernisation of the ŽKV fleet under OPII – Part 5

The project forms part of the long-term concept of renewal of the ZSSK fleet, follows the ZSSK strategy and is also in line with the strategic documents of the Slovak Republic. It addresses the improvement of the services of the ŽOD, its attractiveness for passengers and is beneficial for the development of ITS in the Slovak Republic. The project responds to the unsatisfactory state of the vehicle fleet for regional passenger transport through the purchase of new passenger cars. The basic objective of the project is to improve and make the services of the ŽOD for the travelling public on the territory of PSK, KSK, ZSK and BBSK more attractive and to strengthen its competitiveness compared to other modes of transport. 17 new passenger wagons will be procured by the implementation of the main activity of the project, which will be part of the trainsets deployed on existing railway lines in the territory concerned. New vehicles will make it possible to ensure modern, comfortable, safe, smooth and reliable passenger transport. A high-quality offer of transport services and an improvement in the quality of the environment will pave the way for strengthening the competitiveness of rail transport. The measurability of the achievement of the objectives of the project is expressed by indicators: 17 new POs and 5 113 887 passenger movements in public passenger transport by rail in 2028.
