Hospital Poprad, a.s. was established on 20. 02. 2006 the entry into force of the decision authorising the registration of the public limited company Nemocnica Poprad, a.s. in the Commercial Register. In accordance with Section 87(3) of the Act on health care providers, the company is the legal successor of the state contributory organisation Hospital with poliklinikou Poprad, with its registered office at Banícka 803/28, 058 45 Poprad, ID No.: 00 610 836. On the date of establishment of the company, the state contributory organisation was transformed into a joint-stock company based on the provision of health care pursuant to the provisions of Section 84(1) of the Healthcare Providers Act. On the basis of the above and in accordance with the Act on Healthcare Providers, the founder of the joint-stock company is the State, acting on its behalf by the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic (hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic), which is the founder of the state contribution organisation Hospital with Policlinica Poprad, IČO: 00 610 836 (Decree of Establishment No 1970/1991-A/XVII-1 of 14 June 1991 (Attachment No 2), as amended on 23 May 2001 under No M/2351/2001 (Decision amending the instrument of establishment – Annex 3), as amended on 8 December 2005 under No 31126-2/2005-SP (Decision to amend the instrument of establishment – Annex 4).Day in accordance with Section 87(3) of the Law on Healthcare Providers, the formation of a joint-stock company has been transferred to it by the rights and obligations of the state contributory organisation arising from legal relationships, including unknowns and including rights and obligations arising from employment relationships with employees. The company is a joint stock company according to the Commercial Code with specifics and differences according to the Act on Healthcare Providers. In legal relationships, it acts as a legal person in its own name and under its own responsibility from arising legal relationships. The legal personality of the company externally is demonstrated by an extract from the commercial register.The Poprad, a.s. Hospital belongs to the network of general hospitals and according to an independent evaluation of the quality of the services provided, it is one of the top healthcare providers for a long time (4th in this category for the year 2020). In the context of the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, new needs for the hospital and its staff have arisen due to the onslaught of patients and the speed of the spread of the disease. COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by SARS-CoV-2. It was first identified in patients with severe respiratory disease in Wu-chan, China in December 2019. COVID-19 mainly affects the respiratory system, causes severe pneumonia in severe cases and can lead to the death of the patient. The virus is transmitted by droplets of secretion when coughing, sneezing and talking. Endangers persons who are in close or prolonged contact with an infected person. The infection is also transmitted through contaminated objects. Since no medical facility in Slovakia was prepared for such a situation, the hospital in Poprad had to react immediately. As early as March this year, the hospital has been on standby and under pressure from newly emerging needs to purchase medical equipment and equipment. In the present project, the Poprad Hospital decided to participate in the invitation of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic with the code OP-PO2-SC214-2020-61 and the specific objective 2.1.4 Strengthening capacity in the health system and protecting public health in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the submitted project, the hospital in Poprad will not reimburse already spent COVID19-related funds, but focuses on the mid- and long-term necessary equipment of the hospital that can cover the acute need of medical staff for COVID patients and possibly other associated diseases.
