The aim of the project is to improve the conservation status of species and habitats and to enhance biodiversity in selected forest and permanent grasslands of Natura 2000, namely 9 bird species, 1 mammalian species and 1 habitat of Community importance in forest ecosystems and 1 habitat of Community importance in meadow ecosystems. This objective will be achieved through the nature-close forest management measure – to ensure a sufficient number of trees left for survival or coarse deadwood in selected forest stands. The proposed measure is based on the WB on Polonina NP. Measures on permanent grassland will aim to improve the status of habitats and species of meadow communities of Community importance within the framework of 2 SCIs. The measures will be implemented by felling plants (manually and mechanised), fretting, machine cutting and manual mowing of design areas. The improvement of the status of the birds protected by the Bukovské vrchy SPA and linked to the agricultural landscape will be carried out by planting a fruit orchard. The project also includes the protection of the species Zubor Hryvnia, where the aim is to ensure the favourable status of the population. The activities of the project are subject to State aid rules within the meaning of the State aid scheme for the provision of services of general economic interest in the field of biodiversity protection, as amended by Appendix 1 (hereinafter referred to as the “aid scheme”).
