The aim of the project is to improve accessibility to TEN-T infrastructure and to Class I roads in the Orava region. The specific objective of the project is to reconstruct and modernise path II/520 in order to improve accessibility to the TEN-T network and the roads of the first class in the Orava region.Cesta II/520 begins in Čadca district at the junction of road I/11 in Krásno nad Kysucou, continues to Stará Bystrica, Nová Bystrica and passes to Námestovský district to Oravská Lesná, connecting the Kysuce and Orava regions, creating important transport links between these regions. Road II/520 is the backbone of transport in the region, connecting to the core TEN-T network in Krásna nad Kysucou. It forms a direct connection from the western side to the TEN-T – Baltic-Adriatic Corridor and connects to the TEN-T comprehensive network (R3) from the eastern side. Its total length is 73,289 km. Road II/520 needs to be reconstructed and modernised in order to remedy the problems identified, to increase traffic fluidity, to improve road users’ safety. As part of the implementation of the submitted project, the second class roads with a length of 3.73 km will be reconstructed. Technical provision of implementation of the project will be solved by contractor. The operational and technical sustainability of the project’s outputs throughout the sustainability period will be ensured by the applicant in accordance with the applicable Slovak legislation. ŽSK has the necessary financial envelope to ensure the operation and sustainability of the project outputs.
