Reconstruction and modernisation of second class roads in the region of Upper Považie

The aim of the project is to improve accessibility to TEN-T infrastructure and to Class I roads in the Upper Považie region. The specific objective of the project is to reconstruct and modernise selected sections of roads II/541 and II/583 in order to improve accessibility to the TEN-T network and to the first class roads in the Upper Považie region. Road II/541 serves as a detour route in case of closure I/10 in the Bytča – Makov section. Transport connection to the settlement centre of the 3 rd group, the 2nd subgroup – the city of Bytča and the support of the development of the Považská development axis Bratislava – Trnava – Trenčín – Žilina in accordance with the binding section of KURS 2001 as amended, transport connection to the road of international importance E 442. Indirect connection to the TEN-T Baltic-Adriatic Corridor (via section II/507 or via II/487) and indirect connection to the TEN-T corridor Rhine-Danube. Road II/583 serves as the main transport route from the Orava region to the regional city of Žilina – the main centre of settlement of the 1st group, the 1st subgroup according to the dependence of the changes and add. No. 1 KURS 2001, connects two strong regions of Orava and Upper Považie and, in a broader context, also connects the Kysuce region. It also forms a transport connection to Dolný Kubín, it serves as a detour route of the road I/18 in the Kraľovany – Žilina section and, in conjunction with II/520, as well as as a detour route of the road I/11, in the section Žilina – Krásno nad Kysucou. It consists of a direct connection to the TEN-T-Baltic-Adriatic Corridor and an indirect connection to the TEN-T to the Rhine-Danube corridor. The project follows the project D1 “Považská Bystrica – Hričovské Podhradie” and D3 “Hričovské Podhradie – Žilina, Brodno”, which are already in operation and D3 “Cadca, Bukov – Svrčinovec” – under construction. Roads II/541 and II/583 need to be reconstructed and modernised because of the removal of identified problems, the need to increase traffic fluidity, the improvement of road users’ safety. As part of the implementation of the submitted project, the II Class roads with a length of 3,5369 km will be reconstructed. Technical provision of implementation of the project will be solved by contractor. The operational and technical sustainability of the project’s outputs throughout the sustainability period will be ensured by the applicant in accordance with the applicable Slovak legislation. ŽSK has the necessary financial envelope to ensure the operation and sustainability of project outputs
