The aim of the project is to improve accessibility to TEN-T infrastructure and to Class I roads in the Kysuce region. The specific objective of the project is to reconstruct and modernise pathway II/520 in order to improve accessibility to TEN-T and Class I roads in the Kysuce region. Road II/520 connects the regions of Orava and Kysuce in the Žilina region. Its total length is 73,289 and begins in Čadca district at the junction of road I/11 in Krásno nad Kysucou and continues to Stará Bystrica, Nova Bystrica and passes to Námestovský district to Oravská Lesná, connecting the regions of Kysuce and Orava, creating important transport links between these regions. Road II/520 is the backbone of transport in the region and connects to the core TEN-T network in Krásna nad Kysucou. It forms a direct connection from the western side to the TEN-T – Baltic-Adriatic Corridor and connects to the TEN-T comprehensive network (R3) from the eastern side. Road II/520 needs to be reconstructed and modernised in order to remedy the problems identified, to increase traffic fluidity, to improve road users’ safety. As part of the implementation of the submitted project, the second class roads with a length of 1.469 km will be reconstructed. Technical provision of implementation of the project will be solved by contractor. The operational and technical sustainability of the project’s outputs throughout the sustainability period will be ensured by the applicant in accordance with the applicable Slovak legislation. ŽSK has the necessary financial envelope to ensure the operation and sustainability of the project outputs.
