The objective of the proposed project is to increase the attractiveness and transport capacity of cycling traffic in ŽSK through the construction of a section of the cycle path, which is part of the Vážská cycling route. The project will result in 8.3982 km of new cycling roads. Implementation of the project will take place in the districts of Bytča and Žilina in the territory of Žilina Self-Governing Region. The basic purpose of the Vážská Cycle Route is to build a separate cycle communication, which will be segregated as far as possible from motor transport. The Vážska cycle route aims to connect Trnava, Trenčianský and Žilina regions, at the same time it will bring the possibility of connecting major employers in the regions with the centers of settlement. A weighing cycle route will offer the possibility of a significant alternative to motor transport. Traffic-service cycling routes in the Žilina self-governing region but also in the whole territory of the Slovak Republic are most often found in a discrete structure in the territory of large cities, in their catchment area they are formed and marked primarily as cycling routes. The section of the cycle path, which is the subject of the project starts in the village Kotešová and ends with connection to the currently implemented section of the Vážská cycle path between Budatín and Strečno castles. The project is in line with the relevant transport strategy papers, in particular non-motor transport, connects KURS settlement centres with industrial zones and centres of economic importance and creates links improving accessibility to civil infrastructure in order to increase the share of cycling in the overall distribution of transport work.
