Community centers in towns and villages with the presence of MRK – I. Phase

The national project Community centres in towns and villages with the presence of MRK-I. phase is a complementary project to other national projects “Take away” package[1] in 150 municipalities with the most marginalised and segregated Roma settlements in Slovakia. In accordance with the main objective of the project, the national project focuses on the operation of community centres and the development of community work aimed at promoting social inclusion and positive change in municipalities with the presence of marginalised Roma communities (hereinafter referred to as “MRC”).The activity of community centers is aimed at mobilising internal potential and activating CLLD leading to the strengthening and participation of its members in solving common problems and activities will be based on participatory planning and evaluation. Community centres will provide Roma and non-Roma residents with opportunities for joint social activities, including non-formal education and leisure for children, youth and adults, support for community organisation, conflict resolution and housing problems, interpersonal relations, as well as awareness-raising and prevention activities. These activities contribute to increasing the employability of people in the labour market, social inclusion as well as to the prevention and resolution of inter-ethnic disputes and tensions in municipalities with the CLLD. Education, supervision and methodological management of community workers will be provided to improve the quality of the services provided. The national project will also contribute to unifying and standardising the mission, objectives and practice of community centers and community work in the village environment with CLLD, defining community centers and community work vis-à-vis other social services, exploring the possibilities of working effectively with the community as a group, as well as connecting residents of majority and MRC. The first phase of the project foresees the support of 390 community workers in 130 community centres, whose services will be used by 29 250 people from CLLD. [1] “Take Away” package consists of four national projects:NP “Commune Centres in cities and municipalities with the presence of MRK-phase”NP “Supporting land settlement in marginalised Roma communities.”,NP “Supporting pre-primary education of children from marginalised Roma communities I.”,NP “Terne social work and field work in municipalities with the presence of marginalised Roma communities I.”
