The project is part of the long-term strategy of ZSSK to renew and modernise the vehicle fleet in order to improve the service of the ŽOD, to increase its attractiveness for passengers and to help the construction of ITS in Slovakia. It responds to the unsatisfactory state of the ŽKV for passenger transport in the Banská Bystrica region and to the competition of bus and car transport, which offers quality services and significantly higher travel comfort. The project will restore the most outdated and unsatisfactory vehicles in the Banská Bystrica region. 21 LU will be delivered, namely 14 LU with a capacity of 110 seats and 7 LU with 160 seats, which is the main activity of the project. The new DMJs will offer modern and environmentally friendly transport on regional lines. The basic objective of the project is to contribute to the improvement of the services of the ŽOD and to the improvement of the transport service of the Banská Bystrica region by replacing part of the existing outdated ŽKV with new DMJs and thus to help the successful construction of ITS in that region. The measurability of the achievement of the objectives of the project is expressed by indicators: 21 DMJs and 6 640 482 passengers in 2026.New DMJs should provide the travelling public with higher quality of service, comfort and travel culture, but also greater safety and reliability of transport. This will increase the attractiveness of the AP, which should translate into an increase in the number of rail passengers and thus an improvement in its performance, efficiency and competitive position on the transport market in Slovakia.
