The city of Košice, the second largest city of the Slovak Republic, is a key economic conurbation, but also an important intersection of transport routes.With the rise of living standards, there is an increase in caring, and thus a decrease in the use of public transport, which leads to environmental degradation and congestion. In order to maintain or increase the proportion of VOD transport, it is necessary to offer passengers high-quality and reliable services, minimising barriers and maximising compactness and efficiency. The implementation of the project Modernisation of public transport stops and information systems will ensure modernisation of the VOD infrastructure – bus stops, where there is a high frequency of passengers, by means of communication means – by fitting a stop sign and LED information boards with accessories, construction modifications of stops (waiting and boarding areas for passengers) with the creation of barrier-free access to stops, as well as modifications of roads at the stop points (separate stop lanes outside the road lanes). The aim of the project is to improve and make travel by public passenger transport more attractive by modernising the infrastructure and transport system at the stops. We will contribute to meeting the Specific Objective 1.2.1 as well as the global IROP goal.Specific objectives projektu:Zvýšenie safety, reliability and fluidity of urban transport by modernising the infrastructure at the stops and ensuring barrier-free access.
