Independent research and development of new advanced materials with a wide range of applications

The main objective of the project is to stabilise the applicant’s high-quality research teams in the knowledge field of Material Engineering and Nanotechnology and to enable the independent R & D activity to be realised by 30.6.2019 with the relevant project outputs.  The project will carry out independent research and development in the field of HEA materials, the use of which is prospective in special components of the means of transport, but also has application in the transport of liquid gases. The production of components for means of transport requires the use of special tools with high durability. For these purposes, it is appropriate to use modern technologies of their processing also using cryogenic procedures. Research into the properties of such modified materials brings significant scientific knowledge that can be applied in practice. The corrosion resistance of materials used to protect unnobled metals plays an important role in reducing the degradation of components for transport vehicles, which is why one of the areas of research is focused on the development of new types of materials for corrosion protection and characterisation of corrosion processes. In the development of electrification of means of transport, the use of superconducting materials is necessary, the main problem being their connection with the elimination of the thermal bridge. In this respect, significant scientific knowledge of the solution team, supported by both theoretical and practical experience, will be applied. The special area is the materials used by the rubber industry and the area of chalkogenide glasses for use in optotechnics, whose research is carried out at the applicant’s workplace in terms of temperature stability, crystalline phase occurrence, volume homogeneity, etc. The application of all these procedures at the same time as the adaptation of the technology of preparation of the examined materials and their subsequent structural analysis will gain significant knowledge, not yet published, which will allow to bring about significant cost savings in the processing processes.
