The object of this project is the creation of a central infrastructure of the National Registry and the Municipal Registry, where all civil status and municipal events will be maintained, monitored and managed in a modern and systematic manner. In particular, a central Internet Citizens Register Information System will be implemented in the Ministry of Interior, where all civil and demographic data will be available, thus giving a complete and reliable picture for every citizen. This system will interoperate (communications) with all the authorised bodies of the public administration, with the aim of directly providing civil status data to them, while at the same time any interested party can automatically search and receive an electronic copy of any civil status document concerning him. In order to do this, in addition to the creation of the above Information System, the required computerisation of all the registrars in Greece, as well as the digitisation of the majority of the existing civil status documents of the registry offices that are the subject of this project (digitisation for all the rest was carried out in the context of a project included in the 2007-2013 Operational Programme “Digital Convergence”).The beneficiary of the project is the Information Society S.A. and the Ministry of the Interior is the owner of the project.
