The manifestation of sexist attitudes and discrimination on gender identity issues is an invisible form of violence, linked to dominant gender stereotypes and affecting the dignity of the individual. The mass communication and information media, traditionally or not, play a key role in shaping society’s views, attitudes and prejudices about gender roles. Media content is not always “gender-sensitive” and can present a degrading representation of women, perpetuate gender roles and gender stereotypes and reproduce sexist behaviors. on the occasion of the adoption of Law 4356/2015 on a partnership agreement, the exercise of rights, criminal and other provisions and Law 4339/2015, which activates social dialogue in matters relating to the media, it aims to prevent and combat sexism and discrimination on gender identity issues, with the task of producing scientific research, the results of which will lead to the development of scientific knowledge and useful awareness material. At the same time, on the basis of the research results, it is expected to design and implement training actions for professionals of SMEs and other organisations active in the field of information. Finally, the implementation of all the actions of the project seeks to develop institutional interventions to promote respect for diversity based on sexual orientation and to prevent gender identity discrimination.
