The Second Chance Schools, in addition to the basic knowledge and skills they provide to adult learners, aim to strengthen them at the same time in social roles they take on, in the family, in the professional sphere, in economic and political life and to achieve their social development through the improvement of their educational level. The successful completion of the student’s two-year education is certified with a qualification equivalent to the secondary school diploma (Law 2525/1997). In the school year 2016-2017 66 Second Chance Schools (the Mallandinou MCS did not operate) and 23 external departments. 74 MCS and 26 external departments operated for the two years 2017-2019. 76 MCS and 24 external departments are planned to operate in 2019-2021.
