Within the framework of the act, a Disability Observatory will be set up to: a) The integration, monitoring and evaluation of disability policies across the full range of public action, b) strengthening the institutional capacity of NSAW as the core production of disability policies. The Observatory on Disability Issues will be a space for research and action and will be addressed to a wide range of bodies: Public Administration, Local Government, Higher Educational Institutions, Research Institutes, Social Partners, Civil Society, Disability Organisations, Citizens with Disabilities. More specifically, the Observatory will perform the following functions: It will monitor and evaluate developments on issues relating to, inter alia, social protection, health policies, accessibility, equal treatment, poverty and social exclusion. It will conduct research on specific scientific issues relating to the wider academic fields dealt with by ESAW. It will collect and process data with a view to documenting the positions of NSAW on disability issues. It will record and promote policy proposals that can help address the problems of persons with disabilities (all) of categories) and their families. It will provide information material to people with disabilities and disability organisations. It will cooperate with research institutes, universities and institutions in Greece and abroad.
