The Ephorate of Antiquities of Lesvos aims to secure — restore parts of the walls that are the most recognizable elements of Mytilene Castle, as they characterise it and, on the other hand, define and protect it. The walls with imposing construction and inaccessible, due to the highly sloping and downhill geomorphology, have a poor conservation status and their restoration is considered necessary. The work to be carried out through this project aims at suspending the further destruction of the North Sea walls at the Upper Castle of Mytilene and to remove the ruin and abandonment image presented by Kastro from the northern port and sea side in order to ensure maximising the attraction of visitors.
