Equipping Topoloveni Technological High School and “Ion Mihalache” Theoretical High School in Topoloveni City, Arges County with ICT equipment needed to carry out online teaching activities in the context of the Covid pandemic

The general objective of the project is to improve the ICT infrastructure in the field of e-education to ensure students’ access to the learning process in the online environment in the context of the pandemic generated by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, within the Topoloveni Technological High School and the “Ion Mihalache” Theoretical High School in Topoloveni City, Arges County. The low capacity of parents and administrative units of the state to provide the necessary electronic equipment/devices for carrying out teaching activities and fulfilling the obligations of both students and teachers in terms of the educational process in the online environment, are challenges posed by the pandemic context generated by the SARS-CoV virus for the 2020-2021 school year. The imminence of the rapid digitalisation of the educational process revealed a financially reduced capacity of Topoloveni city to ensure access for pupils and teachers to electronic equipment and devices, so that accessing non-reimbursable funds for equipping educational establishments with IT equipment necessary to ensure the conditions of carrying out teaching activities in the online environment is a priority for territorial administrative units. Thus, the current project proposes to equip with school tablets and other electronic equipment/devices of the Topoloveni Technological High School and the “Ion Mihalache” Theoretical High School in Topoloveni, Arges County to ensure the necessary conditions for carrying out the teaching activity in the online environment in order to avoid a rapid increase in the number of coronavirus infections at the level of the state pre-university educational establishments included in the project and implicitly of the local community. The accessibility of students and teachers to technological equipment is, on the one hand, an important factor in limiting the spread of the virus and the potential number of infections that should be treated in the public health system, and on the other hand contributes to ensuring the right to education by reducing the risk of school leaving and social exclusion of pupils from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The relevance and contribution of the project to the objectives of the programme lies primarily in the fact that within the educational units included in the project the way to ensure and ensure students’ access to the online learning process under the yellow or red scenario is through the tools offered by Google, through the learning platforms/applications G Suite, Zoom, Classroom and EDUS, with free access, in accordance with Emergency Ordinance no. 144 of 24 August 2020 on certain measures for the allocation of non-reimbursable external funds necessary to carry out under preventive conditions the teaching activities for the school year 2020/2021 in the context of the risk
