The University Institute of Animal Health and Food Safety (IUSA) is the only R & D & I Center in the Canary Islands that conducts research and development in animal health and food safety derived from animal products, both terrestrial and marine. In the Atlantic framework, it also represents a strategic structure in international projects of the Macaronesian area, as well as in African countries where the institute has a positive progression in scientific collaboration, in the provision of services and in specialized training of human resources in these fields._x000D_ _x000D_ IUSA-ULPGC is an officially collaborating center of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) in the field of marine mammal health as well as a collaborating entity of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition AECOSAN._x000D_ _x000D_ With this project and with the focus put on a Health, Welfare and Food Security for the XXI century, it is intended to improve and optimize the infrastructures for Animal Health (terrestrial and marine) and Food Security from the ULPGC, in a regional and international framework with a synergistic approach and with the aim of optimizing resources.
