Pharmacoprevention of cardiovascular pathology in a cohort of workers

Objective: the objective of the study is to determine the frequency of pharmacoprevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in a cohort of workers, adherence to treatment and the factors associated with such adherence and compare them with those observed in the general population. Methodology: follow-up study whose scope is the Aragón Workers Health Study (AWHS), cohort study at the General Motors (GM) factory in Figueruelas, Zaragoza. The main sources of information will be the register of the GM’s Occupational Risk Prevention Service and the Pharmacy database of Aragon (Farmasalud). The study will analyse the information collected between 2010 and 2014 and will have different phases. First, a descriptive study will be carried out on the use of preventive drugs from CVD. An analysis of the prevalence and incidence of consumption will be carried out for the total of drugs and for each of the pharmacological subgroups and active substances. A treatment adherence study will be conducted, in which primary adherence and persistence to preventive treatment for CVD will be analysed. Finally, the effectiveness of CVD pharmacoprevention on the control of risk factors will be analysed. Data obtained in AWHS shall be compared with data obtained in the general population and in other national and European studies.
