The ETSIAE of the UPM presents a coordinated joint proposal as an essential step for a strategic positioning towards multidisciplinary excellent research. The purpose of the present action is to create a center for 3D printing of cutting edge technology, with centralized management to facilitate the access to the different groups of ETSIAE and of external entities, creating synergies among them and giving access to research of excellence in different fields, facilitating the application to highly competitive research project calls (national, European and with industry), and also generating high-tech spin-offs. _x000D_ This proposal is the foundation stone of a highly dynamic center which will grow progressively through funds obtained from research projects which will use the equipment of the present application._x000D_ In the present proposal, we include singular equipment (e.g. micro-printing of 0.2 microns of polymers, biological structures, microprinting of metal alloys, carbon fiber composites, thermoplastics at high temperature, characterization apparatus, etc) with capacities which allow the groups to do research which cannot be performed without the requested equipment, but which cannot be obtained from usual calls due to its high cost. However, it is precisely the availability of such singular equipment the one that gives access to the groups to highly competitive science and technology, funding opportunities, and scientific and technological leadership in a competitive world.
