The current WWTP does not have the capacity to treat the entire flow of wastewater that reaches it, so there is a continuous discharge into the Jerte River (Red Natura 2000) in and around Plasencia. The situation has been aggravated with the entry into operation of the collector of the purification system of the Valle del Jerte, which collects the discharges from the towns of that region and leads them to the WWTP.
