Consolidation of the Scientific Computing Cluster: servers, storage and network equipment.

The Jaume I University has a Computer Center that has been renewed in different phases thanks to funds received in different public calls. The last of these ones took place in 2009 when, financed by a project granted by the National Program of Scientific-Technological Infrastructures within the National R + D + I Plan 2008-2011, the old proprietary SMP system was replaced by a cluster of standard servers X86_64. Since then, no update has been carried out, so the different research groups have been equipped by themselves with small clusters with a reduced number of nodes. The atomization of computer resources of scientific calculation reduces the optimal use of them at global level, apart from limiting the calculation capacity and technical assistance. We want to take advantage of this call to request the renewal and improvement of computer equipment dedicated to scientific calculation at the Jaume I University that, without any doubt, can be considered obsolete, in terms of calculation power and energy efficiency. The objective is to obtain a high performance equipment and integrate its use through the Central Service of Scientific Instrumentation of the Jaume I University. This will allow the use of the equipment to researchers from different areas of knowledge of the Jaume I University as well as researchers from other public and/or private institutions.
