HIGH SENSITIVITY AND LOW DOSE MOLECULAR IMAGE (IMAS)

The IMAS project proposes the development of an innovative technology for the diagnosis and monitoring of diseases through molecular imaging, both at an instrumental level (PET scanner, Positron Emission Tomography, based on liquid xenon detectors and new solid materials such as scintillation material) and at the level of data processing (image biomarkers)._x000D_ This new technology will allow the construction of devices with higher image resolution and lower cost than the current ones, which in turn will make possible the construction of devices with great axial coverage and very high sensitivity (a factor 10 higher than current systems), specifically full-body PET devices._x000D_ IMAS aims to solve the need for repeated molecular imaging diagnostic tests on the same patient to evaluate the efficiency of new treatments. The limited anatomical coverage and the non-negligible radiation dose to the patient of current techniques impact the efficacy and safety of the examinations._x000D_ IMAS will have a high impact on the health area in the Valencian Community (also nationally and internationally) by allowing a more accurate and safe diagnosis and monitoring of diseases through high-resolution PET image with low doses. These improvements will affect the entire population: low-dose pediatric PET, full-body PET, and dynamic PET of physiological processes.
