The project defines the fitting out of a cycle route between the roadway of the N-639 and the existing pavement that connects Santurtzi to the Port of Zierbena. This new bicycle lane is part of the cycling route planned for the left bank of the Nervión, between Bilbao and Zierbena, complementing the existing pedestrian mode and enabling connectivity with alternative modes to motor vehicles between Zierbena and Santurtzi. Moreover, the integration of these journeys with the main sustainable public transport networks within the Bilbao Metropolitan Area will be guaranteed, since they will start just 1,500 metres away from the Metro Bilbao and Renfe suburban stations. In the same way, in the opposite direction, it will be favoured the journeys with Zierbena Marina from the surroundings of Gran Bilbao, by means of the combination of sustainable public transport and the bicycle
