Over the past decade, the proportion of children U5 with a migrant background has increased significantly and is currently 35 % above 50 % in some cities. In addition, there is the current refugee situation, which further exacerbates the need for action on this issue. Against this background, the ver.di federal administration has identified the need for systematic and structured personnel development with the departmental directors and personnel councils of municipal childcare providers. The aim is to develop skills in institution management and skilled workers in order to create equal opportunities in terms of social participation and to shape prejudice-conscious education. To this end, practical concepts for dealing with linguistic and ethnic-cultural diversity will be developed, tested and checked for effectiveness. The result is a PE concept that is transferable and disseminated by the social partners.
