The aim of the work of the Inclusion Assistant is to ensure the participation of pupils with special needs in the learning community in the school concerned. The focus is on sustainable support for existing school inclusion processes. In this context, the Inclusion Assistant, in close cooperation with all actors involved in this process, offers the following services, whereby preventive work plays a central role in all actions: • Support students in acquiring the learning content and expanding their learning skills • Promote the integration of pupils into the class association and help with their socialisation (cooperation with fellow students, integration into teaching, participation in extracurricular activities and/or all-day offers) • Enlargement of pupils’ social competence/key qualifications and building and strengthening self-responsibility/self-reliance • Support for pupils in special situations, times of crisis, etc. — quick and uncomplicated to respond adequately ° Support for behavioural regulation and understanding of inappropriate behaviour (e.g. in the case of foreign/autoaggression) • Ensuring equal opportunities for classmates and other people • Preparation of pupils for transition to other types of school, training system or studies in order to achieve them without major problems
