“Recreation makes strong”, individual project No. 2 of the territorial integrated approach to action -Sustainable social urban development Kamenz-; Forwarding to Haus der Begegnung e.V.

While the children and adolescents in the district Kamenz-Ost (Plattenbausiedlung) are initially in school, on the (later) afternoon the question arises about meaningful leisure activities. There is no possibility for qualified leisure activities or homework help. The consequence is: Children and adolescents stay on the street until the evening hours. Leisure time is strong because it offers recreational activities and learning aids as extracurricular offers in a pedagogical sense in the living environment; the association “Haus der Begegnung e.V.” is anchored in the area, it knows problems and possibilities of dismantling. In the “HdB” different areas will be created and used in the new project: There are tobe, sports and play areas, PC workstations, quiet reading and work rooms. A supervising, controlling coordination of use provides a pilot radio. The aim is to mix phases of recovery, activity and learning in such a way that they are in optimal proportion. Participants can thus counter school and family (male) strains and learn to organise and stabilise their own lives themselves. As a closed group offer, a pedagogically accompanied project implementation takes place which acts activating action-oriented on the development of the participants. Innovative low-threshold leisure and learning assistance services for Kamenz-East are provided, potential is exploited and deficits are compensated.
