Acquisition of key qualifications for digitally supported learning in studies and occupations

Higher education institutions face increasing challenges due to the progressive digitalisation and automation of the world of work. One of them is the ability of students to acquire the digital key qualifications that are becoming increasingly important for the world of work. Applicants are guided by the current “Strategy for Digitalisation in Higher Education” (SMWK 2019). The project focusses on the peer-to-peer approach, which has developed into a success factor at the HTWK Leipzig in different contexts (such as preliminary courses, firsti coaches, tutors). As part of the project, students are qualified to become e-coaches. As peers, these in turn support students in the acquisition of key digital qualifications for studies and occupations. After their qualification, the e-coaches are also able to develop digital learning formats that can be directly integrated into suitable university structures. As a university for applied sciences, HTWK Leipzig has a strong network with Saxon companies and thus with the economy in the region. Students coming mostly from Leipzig and the surrounding area usually prefer to look for a regional employer after their studies. The project contributes to strengthening qualifications already in the course of studies, which are increasingly required by Saxon companies.
