Demographic change is bringing about profound changes in our society, characterised by, among other things, increased life expectancy, falling birth rates, dissolution of traditional family structures and regional and cross-border migration. The HTWK Leipzig examines this transformation process and develops cost- and resource-efficient concepts, solutions and digital tools within the framework of this transdisciplinary research project, which deal with issues of regional (Saxon) spatial development, the age-appropriate design of the living environment and the development of specific support systems, focusing on both technical aspects and the question of acceptance by users. Concrete research and development of economically viable system solutions for shaping demographic and structural change within the specific areas of application addressed in the project: • automated monitoring and management systems for room and building climate and building materials including communication systems, • minimally updated intelligent systems for intuitive motion support, • information-based strategies and tools for resource-efficient construction (re)use planning, and • transformation monitoring for the economic adaptability of the construction and real estate industries.
