High-tech sensors for the challenge of demographic change in Saxony

In order to be prepared for demographic change and to address the gaps in care, innovative technological approaches are needed to ensure individual and high-quality medical treatment. The aim of the SenseCare project is to develop cost-effective, multifunctional sensors and sensor matrices for spatially resolved measurement of force vectors as well as for measuring humidity, pulse and temperature. Carbon nanotubes/polymer composites are to be applied to flexible substrates using printing technology. The structuring and functionalisation of the CNTs in conjunction with the defined polymer matrix enables the different functions. The sensors or sensor matrices to be developed should be analysed in different situations on the periphery of humans. Innovative approaches from materials science, sensor technology, data analysis, and production technology will be used to promote the development of skilled workers. The methods, models, technologies, sensors and sensor systems developed within the framework of the junior research group can be used in various industrial sectors established in Saxony, e.g. automotive engineering, mechanical engineering, microelectronics and textile industry.
