The various operations of the 2018 programme are thus aimed at restoring, on a sustainable basis, a salmon population that must move towards self-sufficiency. Since the species has completely disappeared from the basin, its restoration inevitably passes through the support of the population currently being relocated, with the help of restocking operations. The success of restocking operations is monitored through careful genetic monitoring of returning individuals and herds of hatchery broodstock. Characterisation, environmental monitoring, monitoring of ecological continuity and the impact of dams complement restocking operations in order to act effectively for the recovery of the salmon population.
