The VALBIOSAN project of the University of La Rochelle aims to isolate, identify and synthesise several molecular hits of the polysaccharide type, peptides andpigments derived from the marine biodiversity of our coastline (present along our Charentaise coasts). Thus, the health potential of micro-, macroalgamarines and marine bacteria is exploited for the production of new marine pharmacological agents with biological effects on human health. This project also examines the environmental toxicities that can bioaccumulate these bioresources and the functional consequences of these pollutants in human health.
