The public incubator Agoranov was founded in 2000 by four prestigious scientific institutions: the Universities Pierre and Marie Curie and Paris Dauphine, the Ecole Normale Supérieure and ParisTech, joined in 2010 by INRIA. Since its inception, Agoranov has received support from the Ministry of Research, the ESF, the Ile de France Region, and the City of Paris. For the past fifteen years, Agoranov’s mission has been to facilitate the creation of innovative companies linked to public research. Concretely, the incubator helps entrepreneurs move forward in their project: seize opportunities, avoid frequent mistakes, and make the best use of their potential. With accommodation opportunities, individualised support and a set of trainings and conferences offered in the form of an acceleration programme, a wide range of means is implemented to create the best conditions for success for Agoranov community member projects. This community itself has become one of the forces of the incubator, as it allows new entrepreneurs to find help and, above all, to answer most of their questions from their peers. In this context, as of 31 December 2016, 328 projects have been incubated by Agoranov. The 301 companies created thus far account for 6000 jobs, more than half of which are in R & D. Thus, on average, 20 direct jobs and, in the case of innovative companies, 80 indirect jobs
