Koz English & E-Learning — English Map Reunion Island

**Koz English Podcast** is a weekly Podcast (online show — open-source and free), in which an English-speaking resident of Réunion speaks about our adoption island in English every week. Each episode is available directly on the website www.anglais.re, on PC, tablet or mobile phone, and can be downloaded from iTunes, Stitcher and YouTube. The user has the choice between two reading speeds: slow speed and normal speed, depending on their English level. He can also choose to read the text at the same time as he listens, thus consolidating knowledge of pronunciation and syntax. At the bottom of each text is a list of lexicon with English translation. Another asset of K.A.P. is the diversity of voices. We managed to bring together the English-speaking trainers at Réunion around this project, and we have a team of 16 presenters from the following countries: England, Scotland, Ireland, United States, Canada, Dominica, South Africa, Angola, Singapore, and Australia. K.A.P. started in pilot mode since March 2014, and it has been very successful, quickly becoming the 1st podcast of Réunion, listened to more than 35,000 times, not only by Internet users from Reunion but also learners of the English language in 104 other countries such as Russia, China, Brazil, Japan and all EU countries. Content varies every week. Among the 72 podcasts already online to date, the topics covered cover a range of themes, necessarily linked to the life, culture and society of Réunion. Sports activities (Grand Raid, paragliding, whale watching), cultural (museums, history, art,) food (restaurants, organic farms, vegetarianism, local specialities) not to mention the richness of Creole life and culture (language, music, diverse origins, religions). For the moment, K.A.P. is still in volunteer and amateur mode, with essential improvements to have the necessary impact and thus achieve the goals. How can this tool be implemented and professionalised? \--------- **Koz English Online Training** is an E-learning platform, primarily for companies with an international opening project or active in the tourism sector. It will nevertheless be _open-access_ and free of charge, available directly on www.anglais.re. We want to develop an exceptional tool, high-end and especially dense in quantity. There will be two main parts: 1) **K.A.F.E. 974**: The reference base for general English. 17 Chapters, 170 lessons and 500 activities, for a maximum time of 90 hours per user. At the rate of 15 minutes a day, the user could spend a whole year on the site. The user will take (without obligation) an evaluation at the beginning of the training, simply to identify the areas in which he or she most needs. This step is automatic, acting as a guiding thread to direct the user to courses and activities that will have the impact necessary to fill the gaps. This part is also integrated into social networks. The user can share their results with their peers, colleagues and friends, by launching the challenge to beat the posted score. Other forms of encouragement will be present — badges following the success of certain tasks, having spent predefined periods on the tool, etc. These rewards are also integrated into social networks. 2) **K.A.F.E. PRO**: The basis of thematic training, with full programmes dedicated to the following 4 occupations: 1) secretarial, 2) hotels, 3) catering and 4) import/export. Why playful? Because K.A.F.E. will be 100 % **_meeting._** This means that, contrary to all the options already available on the internet for learning English, our tool will be linked to the Reunion Island, with activities/questions/games that will systematically refer to life, culture, geography, society and their reunion. There will be three levels of English per trade. False beginner/pre-intermediate (CEFR A1-A2 — see grid below), intermediate (B1-B2) and advanced (C1-C2) For each sector of activity, we identified and selected themes that reflect real working life situations. Example: a chapter on the telephone label in Sector 1 (Secretariat), or management of difficult customers for Sector 3 (restoration). The content of these activities is all the more effective as a result of the 15 years of experience teaching trainees in these four areas. Once a user at level A1-A2 has completed his training, he/she will be able to start the rest of the training, i.e. level B1-B2 in his/her occupational sector. As the user progresses, the user is guided during his training by a virtu trainer
