Clean-up at the Crouël site in Clermont-Ferrand (63)

In fact, as part of its policy of resorption of unworthy habitat, the city of Clermont-Ferrand is committed to giving a new orientation to plots located near the Puy de Crouël, chemin de la Tonne Ronde. Hitherto abandoned and polluted, the latter were intended to host PLAIs (Local Programmes Aided with Integration). Puy de Crouël is identified in the priority area “South-East/Cournon” as part of the Integrated Urban Development Project of Clermont Auvergne Métropole. It is a territory that has experienced strong urban development since the 1970s, notably through the establishment of economic and commercial areas but also a few residential sectors. The area of Crouël is identified in the Plan Local d’Urbanisme in its orientation 3 such as “a fertile soil for biodiversity and new uses”. The aim is to restore city quality and make the territory a laboratory for mutable spaces: reclaim and rehabilitate an abandoned site representing an important land deposit that can accommodate new residential functions. In addition, the plot is located close to a Natura 2000 site and an ecological corridor and in this sense the clean-up must be taken into account in view of the restoration of this fragile area.
