The Magmas et Volcans Laboratory (LMV, Université Clermont Auvergne/CNRS) of Clermont Ferrand, in close collaboration with the Local Water Commissions (CLE) of the SAGE Allier aval et Sioule, proposes an Interdisciplinary Approach to the Characterisation of the Water Resources of the Chain of Puys (CAPRICE). The CAPRICE project aims (i) to improve geological knowledge of the 10 sub-basins of the Puys Chain, (ii) to characterise groundwater bodies, (iii) to identify relationships between groundwater resources and surface aquatic environments, and (iv) to assess the impact of anthropogenic and natural changes in groundwater regime on aquatic environments. In support of the areas of expertise of the scientific collaborators of the project, CAPRICE proposes a geological, geochemical and hydrological characterisation of two sub-basins of the Puys chain (cheire of Como and Veyre valley), with different geographical and geological properties, in order to best force their hydrological and hydrogeological functioning. At the end of the study, a conceptual model of operation and management recommendations will be proposed for the two sub-basins studied. These recommendations will be extended to the entire Puys chain and simplified and advanced diagnostic methodological sheets will be produced for SAGEs.
